Friday, 5.13
5:00pm
I get me stuff. I unpack it. Hardly anything comes with manuals. I am completley overwhelmed.
5:30pm
Keller and Woody come over. We get thai food, play Resident Evil, and Keller poops in a box. Woody and I start
to assemble my new comp.
We run into this one peice that we can't decide what to d with. After much deliberation, we deciade to "break
it the hell off". Breaking it the hell off works quite well. We begin to install my motherboard. I swear alot. We get
it in. Proceed to hook up fans, hard drive, RAM and CPU. I continue to swear at regular intervals.
Saturday, 5.14
9:30am
I wake up, and hook up my DVD drive. Later that day, I go to Seattle and see Sin City.
Sunday, 5.15
I dont do jack.
Monday, 5.16
Pick up a monitor from Keller, and a spare 40-pin IDE cable from the IT shop uptown. Hook both of thoes up. Turn
the thing on. The fans turn on. Nothing else happens. I say a string of bad words.
Tuesday, 5.17
Not much happens. I tinker around a little bit. I buy a heatsink for the CPu from Ezra. Can't figure out how the
hell it goes in.
Wednesday, 5.18
3:00pm
Get home, call Ezra. Get the heatsink in with the help of a chisel. Miss with the chisel and hit the motherboard
several times. Wince and swear. Turn the comp on... and nothing else happens, except for the fans. Do some diagnosis with
Ezra, and decide it's either the Motherboard, RAM or CPU.
7:30
Ezra drops off spare mobo(motherboard) and RAM to do some diagnosis with. Hook the mobo up. Nothing at all happens,
not even the fans. Swear. Play around with the plugs, try again. Nothing. Attack the top to a small table with a fire-poker
while shouting loudly. Feel better. Watch some Family Guy, sleep...go see Star Wars.
Thursday, 5/19
3:00pm
Re-install old mobo. Fans go on nothing else. Attack table with fire-poker again. Try again. Nothing. Cry, freak
out, give up, go back inside.
A lot of days later...
After gewtting a new CPU and 40 pin IDE for the HDD, it works. WTG myself. And if anyone out there is thinking about building
a comp, or is having trouble, overclock.net has a GREAT forum for comp questiong, and you can get parts from newegg.com.
